Every season, market traders, sports clubs and event organisers across Australia look for shelters that handle sun, wind and rain while keeping their brand easy to spot. If you want a custom printed marquee that works hard for your business, these five practical tips will help you choose with confidence.
Tip 1: Start With a Strong Frame
The frame decides how long your shelter lasts. Look for hexagonal aluminium or powder-coated steel legs with reinforced joints, because thin budget frames bend easily in gusty conditions. Paying a little more upfront usually saves money in the long run, since a sturdy frame lasts many seasons and keeps your stock safe when the wind picks up.
Tip 2: Choose Quality Fabric
Thin fabric fades, stretches and leaks within a single summer. Choose waterproof, UV-resistant polyester with taped seams, ideally 500D or heavier. If you want a marquee heavy duty enough for coastal breezes and harsh Australian sun, fabric weight matters as much as the frame, so always ask your supplier for full specifications before you order.
Tip 3: Secure It With Proper Weights
Pegs pull loose from sand and dry soil, and they cannot be used on concrete at all. Weigh down every leg with at least 15 to 20 kilograms, keep the roof evenly tensioned, and pack the shelter away when strong gusts are forecast. A few minutes of preparation protects your customers, your stock and your equipment.
Tip 4: Keep Your Artwork Clear
Good design is simple. Use a high-resolution logo, two or three brand colours and large text that can be read from ten metres away, so passing crowds understand your message at a glance. Always approve a digital proof before printing, and double-check spelling, phone numbers, social handles and website addresses, because printed fabric cannot be corrected afterwards.
Tip 5: Look After It Between Events
Packing away a damp roof leads to mould and weakened seams. Dry the fabric completely before storing it, wash gently with mild soap and cool water, and rinse off salt and dust after coastal or country events. Keep everything in a protective carry bag, away from moisture, and your setup will look sharp for years.
Final Thoughts
A strong frame, quality fabric and smart design work together to make your stall easy to find and easy to trust. Compare suppliers, ask about turnaround times and warranty terms, and order early before the busy spring and summer event season begins. For extra visibility above the crowd, add teardrop banner flags beside your stall and give your brand one more way to stand out all year round.
